Jim Deshaies is a former pro-baseball left-handed starter from the United States. Throughout his 12 major league seasons, he played for six different Major League Baseball (MLB) teams.

On 7 August 1984, he made his MLB career debut with the professional baseball team, New York Yankees. He spent his first full season with the Astros in 1986, and in that year, he set an Astros rookie record with 12 victories.

From 1997 through 2012, Deshaies alongside Bill Brown provided commentary for Astros TV broadcasts. During his time, he earned fans’ respect as an analyst and enjoyed tremendous popularity.

At present, he is serving for broadcasts of Chicago Cubs games as a color commentator. Following Len Kasper’s departure in 2020, Deshaies was appointed for the position.

Cubs color analyst Jim Deshaies (JD) will not be at Tuesday’s MLB game. He has been absent from his unusual commentary duties for the past few days.

On Tuesday night, the Chicago Cubs (44-64) take on the Nationals once more, but JD will be badly missed by his fans.

Last week, the commentator gave an update on his condition and explained his absence. He is currently on bed rest after getting COVID infected.

Upon learning about Jim’s absence during the program, some viewers sent their wishes for a quick recovery.

One Twitter user wrote, “Feel better Jim Deshaies, you’ll be back in your fanny pack and on your folding bike in on time.”

Jim Deshaies Illness And Health Update

After finding that he had COIVD, Jim Deshaies has avoided social gatherings at the moment. Thankfully, he has moderate symptoms, and hopefully, he will soon be able to resume his duties.

Through his social handle, the announcer also informed his well-wishers that he has received two vaccinations and booster injections.

Other than Covid, there hasn’t been any information about his condition, thus he may be now in good health.

Later on, Billy Krumb also reported that the cubs analyst Jim has been injected with COVID-19, and also pray for his speedy recovery.

What Happened To Cubs Announcer Jim Deshaies?

Many fans were worried for Jim Deshaies as the Cubs’ announcer was absent from Monday’s game against the Nationals at Wrigley Field.

Deshaies was reportedly expecting to be sidelined for some days after testing positive for covid-19.

Jim tweeted on 9 August detailing his situation, he wrote, “Tested positive for Covid, and unfortunately will be out of action for a few days.”

Before this week’s scheduled Field of Dreams matchup, the Cubs still have two games left against the Nationals.

The second Field of Dreams event hosted by MLB will feature a matchup between the Cubs and Cincinnati Reds. The match will take place on the historic Dyersville, Iowa field that served as the setting for the eponymous motion picture.

Jim Deshaies Wife Lori Deshaies And Family

As Jim Deshaies’ wife, Lori Deshaies is well-known to the general public. The Deshaies couple tied the wedding knot in October 1985, and their bond is still going strong.

Before being married, Jim and Lori dated for a couple of years after first becoming friends in high school.

The pair has a family happily with three daughters named Kelly, Libby, and Molly Deshaies. They moved to Chicago after Kelly’s high school graduation.
