Francis Cabrel was born on 23 November 1953, in Agen, France, but of Italian descent. Francis is a guitarist, singer and songwriter, known for releasing numerous folk albums over the course of his career, and also occasionally works the blues or country genres. He’s been active in the industry since 1974. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

He started pursuing a career in music in the 1970s, and released his first hit song “Petite Marie” in 1974, and would continue to release more songs which became French music favorites, including “L’encre de tes yeux”, and “La Corrida”. After releasing several singles in the next few years, he would then release his debut album entitled “Francis Cabrel” in 1977, under the CBS label. He followed it up with the albums “Les Chemins de Traverse” and “Fragile” while he steadily continued releasing singles. He released his first live album in 1984, entitled “Cabrel Public”, continuing with opportunities would open up for him, and which would increase his net worth.

In 1987, Cabrel released his first compilation album called “Cabrel 77-87”, which compiled his hit songs of the previous 10 years. He continued working with CBS until 1989, and released albums such as “Sarbacane”, “Photos de Voyages” and “Quelqu’un de I’interieur”. In the 1990s, he started working with the Columbia label, first releasing the live album entitled “D’une ombre a l’Autre”, which would lead to his first album with the new label called “Samedi soir sur la terre” which was released in 1994. He released less music in the next few years, but would still do so consistently; his next album would be released in 1999 entitled “Hors-saison”.

In the 2000s, Francis would release two studio albums, two live albums, and a compilation album called “L’Essentiel 1977-2007”, through Chandelle Production. His latest release is “In extremis” in 2015, and he also toured to support the album, which was made into a live album. One of his latest singles is “Partis pour rester”. He also did a duet with Nolwenn Leroy entitled “Lucie” which is featured on the album “Kiss & Love”. He has sold over 21 million albums throughout the course of his career, all helping with his net worth’s increase.

For his personal life, it is known that Francis has been married to Mariette since 1974, who was the subject of his first song, “Petite Marie”; they have three daughters. In 2015, an unauthorized biography was published about him, and he attempted to have the book suppressed. He is considered one of the most private French singers.
