Robert Hugo Tinelli (born April 1, 1960 in Bolvar, Buenos Aires Province), known professionally as “ShowMatch,” is an Argentine television presenter, media producer, and businessman. He is most known for his work as the host of the television programme ShowMatch, which airs on Argentina’s El Trece. He is regarded as one of the most recognisable characters on Argentine television. Tinelli, along with Pope Francis, is one of the most well-known fans of the San Lorenzo de Almagro football team in the history of the club.
He now serves as the Vice President of the Boedo’s side. Tinelli had been working as a football sportscaster for Radio Rivadavia when Juan Alberto Bada hired him to work for Bada y Compaa, a television production company. After many years as a sports commentator, he came up with the idea for the light-content Videomatch, which was centred on sports outcomes, simple jokes, concealed cameras, and embarrassing moments. Around 1996, the program’s material was pared down to the bare essentials, with musical performances and special guests. In 1999, he was awarded the Golden Martn Fierro Award for his contribution to videomatch. The programme is still on the air, although it goes by the name of Showmatch now. It was he who founded the television production firm Ideas del Sur (Ideas from the South), which has produced a number of television programmes, including Okupas, Buenos Vecinos, Tumberos, Fugitivos, and Los Roldán, among others.
He also purchased the Spanish radio station Radio Uno as well as the football team CD Badajoz, which plays in the Segunda División. In 2002, he assisted in the formation of the volleyball team Club Ciudad de Bolvar, which is located in his hometown of San Carlos de Bolivar. After many years of hard work, the club emerged as the most successful in the Argentine league. With his ex-wife, Mara Soledad Aquino (with whom he was married from May 1986 to March 1993), he has two daughters, Micaela and Candelaria; a son and a daughter, Francisco and Juanita, with his second wife, Paula Robles (with whom he was married from November 1997); and a son, Lorenzo, with model Guillermina Valdés, with whom he is currently in a relationship.
